Hola Familia!
Well... the miracles just keep
rolling... seriously this area is so incredible. Everywhere we turn there are
prepared and willing people. Remember the man from last week that told us he
just wanted to change? Well he has just been an on-going miracle! Last Monday
we had a super powerful first lesson with him about the restoration, and we had
a member come with us, and she just seemed to say all the right things to help
him recognize why this message is so essential for the change he wants to make.
Then later on in the week we were walking around the same apartment complex
when we just "happened" to cross paths with him at exactly the right
time and he just looked so relieved to see us. He said he had been experiencing
a lot of negative things this past week. We talked about how the adversary is
trying to impede him from making these changes, but then we read Mosiah
24:13-15 with him about how the Lord will strengthen us in our trials. He said
he just felt so much more at peace. We promised him that if he came to
conference this weekend he would receive a direct answer from God regarding one
of his doubts or worries... well... Sunday afternoon session rolls around… and
guess who walks into the chapel?? He did! Also, one of the recent converts in
the ward who is about the same age as him and came from a similar background
was there to meet him and share a bit of his story before the conference got
started. We gave him a pen and paper to write down any impressions or feelings.
The whole time I was just constantly praying that he would feel the love of God
and receive an answer. It was almost to the end when he finally pulled out the
pen and paper and just filled the whole page. Afterwards I asked him if he took
good notes and he said he just wrote what he felt... and that he felt good. We
have another appointment tonight and we plan to teach him about the plan of
Salvation and really focus on the power of the Atonement. I am really excited,
and I just pray that the Spirit will really testify to him how true and possible
this change is with the help of our perfect brother!
This week we have really been trying
to get to know the members, and with that prepared people have just popped out
of no where! There is a less active sister in our ward that we decided to
visit, but when we got there for our appointment she wasn't home... but her
nonmember son and his wife were! They had never spoken with missionaries
before, so we had a brief message and they said they wanted us to come back
next week! Then we visited an active family that actually isn't in our area…
but they said that her inactive daughter does live in her area and she would
love for us to visit. Well, we got there and they have a giant gate around
their house that you can only get in by code. Well we talked to their
neighbors, who also happen to be members and they said that the gate is always
closed... well after conference on Saturday our appointment fell through and we
felt that we should try that family. We went by and... it was open! Their
little boy was out playing in the street with some friends. We met the mom and
she invited us right in. We had a nice little lesson and found out that her
youngest child hadn't been baptized yet but was old enough. I'm telling you...
these prepared people are everywhere! We have an appointment to visit them
again this week.
The Lord just never ceases to amaze
me. If we are willing to just give it all to Him, He can guide us and make so
much more of our lives than we can.
This past conference was
incredible!! I especially loved President Uchdorft's talk on gratitude. It's so
true that a grateful heart is a happy heart. We have to look on every situation
we face with eyes of faith, and be grateful because we recognize that no matter
what we are facing, the Lord has a plan for us and it is going to be for our
benefit!
Well... that's all the time for this
week. But I love you all so very very much! Have a wonderful week!
Replace fear with faith and
gratitude!
les quiero demasiado,
Hermana Draper
